Alewijnse Marine staff have participated in a liquefied natural gas (LNG) awareness training seminar at the STC Training & Consultancy (STC T&C). The object was to expand our expertise in LNG newbuilds, refits and service & maintenance on board all types of vessels.
We are already contributing to the LNG refit of TSHD Samuel de Champlain, the first dredger in Europe to be converted to a dual-fuel capability combining LNG and MGO. Another pioneering LNG project that we have done is the delivery of the electrical fit-out on board the new LNG tanker BN803 Coralius. She is the first purpose-built LNG bunker and feeder vessel to be built in Europe.
The global shipping industry is currently under intense pressure to reduce its emissions following the recent introduction of new IMO regulations. This is good news for the LNG propulsion industry as LNG is one of the cleanest options to meet these regulations. And good news for the environment!
